We are pleased to tell you that our 21st Anniversary Celebration and Graduation Banquet was a great success! More than 250 guests had a wonderful time mingling with friends and colleagues, while bidding on terrific auction items donated by local businesses and friends of Mentors, Inc. Your participation helped us raise over $215,000 – enabling us to award more than $51,000 in college scholarships and provide laptop computers and printers for ten students to take with them to college. |

Chevaz: Rob and I are two different people. That’s why we get along very well. We learn a lot from one another. Rob and I go the movies. We hang out, watch the games on television, go to the arcade and we also do things that are educational. Rob: When I first decided to become a mentor I couldn’t wait to meet my mentee; to teach him about the world; to assist him in circumventing the potholes that develop in life; to set a good example. However, a funny thing happened after I had been paired off with my mentee, Chevaz. |

On March 15th, students, (along with some mentors and parents) gathered at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church with the goal of learning more about their options after high school graduation. In its third annual Career Day, Mentors, Inc. partnered with NYA Community Club to provide students with the opportunity to speak with professionals representing 24 career fields, as well as attend four interactive workshops on different pieces of the career path puzzle. |

Complete with popcorn (from a real popcorn machine!), hot dogs, soft pretzels and candy, Mentors, Inc. hosted a movie night on January 25th. Hosted by our friends at the Service Employees International Union, this was a way to show our mentors how much we appreciate the time and effort they give to their protégés and our program. As pairs arrived, the protégés were given Mentors, Inc. “dollars” to use to buy concessions for their mentors. |
