“Mentors, Inc. is known for its dedication and commitment to making college a reality for youth in DC.  My mentor has been more than a role model to me; he has been a family member always looking out for my best interests.  I know that Mentors, Inc. will never give up on me, never judge me and most importantly, never deny me possibilities.”

GIVE GENEROUSLY!!
Greetings!   Mentors, Inc. teenagers are as different as teenagers could be.  Which doesn't mean they are not without drama -- or drive.  What many have in common is that many live in the most challenging wards of Washington, DC in a city with the third highest poverty rate in the nation. And many attend schools that, let's face it, we as adults are still trying to fix.  Meet La'Nora, whio just graduated in June...
This year's recipient of our Student Speaker Award, La'Nora, shared that she was never a big fan of school and that at a young age knew she did not want to go to college.  But she admits now that her mentor was a "gateway to new experiences and a great support system," which includes introducing La'Nora to new foods, driving her for a college visit, and helping her with a college essay.  La'Nora is now off to college with a Mentor's, Inc. scholarship.

This is the power that mentoring can have on a teenager! And why our teens need your support.

Having the world open up for La'Nora and aspiring to college, are not unusual for teens with mentors.  Your gift can enable many more students to have a mentor in their lives.
  • $100 supports supplies, event fees, student transportation, or other programming essentials
  • $300 supports 1-2 college, career, or community service events for student exposure to their futures
  • $1500 supports one student-mentor pair for one year
  • Your “dream” gift, or a gift from the company you work for, can provide college scholarships, support a specific school, or ensure that a new group of teens receive mentors

Mentoring works!  Donors and volunteers make mentoring possible, so we thank you for caring.  As always, may your gifts to others return to you in abundance!
